Apples Galore!

Hi Friends!

We have been so busy in Kindergarten! We are such eager little learners, I am so proud!
In the past two weeks we have:
-learned all about the letters Cc, Oo, Gg.
-learned how to become better writers using our own ideas, our alphabet charts and taking responsibility for our writing folders.
-learned how to identify the next number in a sequence, create shape pictures, graph and analyze data.
-learned about the four seasons.
-learned about Johnny Appleseed and apples!

These past two weeks we have been learning new centers to practice. We have been learning how to buddy read and how to be good buddies during writers' workshop!

Sharing our writing topics/ideas for the day.

Jaylyn writes her first book all about dolphins. Jaylon begins a book about turtles.

In math we have been practicing number 1-15. We count daily but also have been practicing how to make different numbers. We have been using "ten-frames" to practice showing amounts. I have included both a 10 frame and a 20 frame. You can use these to help your child practice matching a number and quantity up to 20. Included you will also find apple cutouts! Please click HERE FOR TEN AND TWENTY FRAMES.

In addition to our counting work, we have been exploring different shapes. The kids loved to create their own pictures with the shapes! These shapes went home recently in an envelope. The kids can practice making pictures at home. Please help them identify shapes, count the sides and count the corners.

Over the last two weeks we have learned all about seasons and most importantly APPLES! The kids loved learning about Johnny Appleseed. Today, we celebrated his birthday. In preparation, we have been doing all sorts of apple activities all week!

We read Ten Apples Up On Top and counted letters in our names.

We love our Prek friends! Kinder joined Miss Smoot's Prek for Apple Fun!
We sampled red, yellow and green apples. We also made apple paintings!
Calm before the storm...

A lot of our centers have been apple themed! We found apples and apple words in write the room, apple number identification, apple coloring and art projects!

Some of our completed apple collages!

Making our very own Johnny Appleseed!

The big day! September 26 is what we have been waiting for!

Say cheese!!

Finally, on to our taste testing! We sampled regular Cheerios and apple Cheerios, then regular applesauce and cinnamon applesauce. The kids loved it! We took turns sampling then graphing what we liked!

Which did you like best Hannah?

The sweetest bunch of Kindergarteners around!

We had such an exciting two weeks! Check back next week for updates about our Farm Inquiry project!

Hoppy weekend!
